Learn how to be kind to yourself

I have been teaching chair yoga to vibrant women 55+ since 2013. My passion lies in making yoga accessible while offering meaningful challenges for both the body and mind.
Let’s dispel the myth that chair yoga is simply easy, gentle, or watered down—nothing could be further from the truth!
Chair yoga is yoga. In my classes, you'll explore your physical limits safely and with support, while also practicing self-compassion. When you encounter challenges—on the mat or in life—how can you meet them with kindness rather than judgment? Let’s find out together in my online studio, where you can join interactive live classes or access the digital library for recorded sessions.
A little about me: I became a student of yoga in Singapore around 2000, and now I live on the beautiful Saugeen Peninsula with my husband, daughter, and our big, hairy dog. While I’ll always be a student of yoga, my true passion is teaching. Outside of yoga, I’m passionate about cross-country skiing, sci-fi movies and television, getting creative in the kitchen, and dancing.
"Nina always encourages kindness toward ourselves. In my many years of practice with her, I’ve never experienced strain or injury. Her thoughtful guidance has strengthened my entire body, enhancing my body and mind awareness and self-care. I deeply value her classes."
-Leslie, YOGA PRACTITIONER
"Nina’s classes are a highlight of my week! Her gentle guidance fosters balance, flexibility, and self-compassion, leaving me feeling amazing—both physically and emotionally. I especially appreciate Nina’s messages about cultivating kindness towards one’s self, acknowledging the tendency to self-judgment, and moving forward with self-compassion. I highly recommend Nina!"
-Jennifer, YOGA PRACTITIONER
"Nina’s combination of yoga and fitness routines are motivating, fun, and often challenging. Over time, my bone density has improved, and that’s a great reason to embrace this class. Everyone can participate, and can modify if they need to - I always feel some challenge, and am always happy to be part of Nina’s class. "
-Nancy, YOGA PRACTITIONER
"Nina leads a great series of classes that helped me get back into a fabulous yoga practice after breaking my wrist a few years ago. She starts with a super neck and upper body warm up with lots of unique stretches. Each class works the entire body with support, if needed, from the chair. The final relaxation section with her wonderful voice is marvellous. I look forward to each and every class."

I have mobility issues and use a cane for balance and stability. Is this class a good fit for me?
Yoga is such a personal practice. It really depends on your comfort level as safety must be prioritized. Classes currently offered at Everwise Yoga use the chair as a prop for balance, stability and to adapt yoga poses to avoid excessive weigh bearing on hands and knees. Movement in these classes include getting up and down from the chair and moving the chair around frequently from one side of the mat to the other. So, it would depend on your comfort level with getting up and down from the chair and being able to move the chair from one side of the mat to the other.
Do I have to get down on the floor?
Yes and No
The Chair Yoga Flow Class does not require students to come down to the floor. It is seated and standing only.
The Mind Body Chair Yoga and the Yoga for Bone Health Classes invite students to come down to the floor on their backs.
No postures are ever done on hands and knees.
Nina is trained to safely teach people how to come down to the floor from the chair and back up from the floor to the chair.
No vinyasas in any classes
